Today was the Big Day of the Creation vs. Evolution debate here at Virginia Tech, sponsored by the Campus Bible Fellowship and the Freethinkers. It featured Dr. Randy Guliuzza, MD, of the Institute for Creation Research for Creationism and Dr. Massimo Pigliucci, PhD, of the University of Tennessee for Evolutionism (lest you think I'm playing favorites, I'm going off the order on the programs co-distributed by the two groups), and took place in Burruss Auditorium from 1:30 until about 4:30. The timing of this was especially convenient, seeing as Blog Wars are currently taking place on this very subject. Mark Byron does an excellent job of explaining entropy and the second law of thermodynamics. As I mentioned below, I tried to articulate a detailed description of my understanding of it, but I haven't been successful yet. On the other hand, Mark does a great job to which I doubt I could add much, if anything, so go read his. Coming shortly is my analysis of the debate on campus.
